Adam Lambert And Kris Allen Remember The Great Michael Jackson

July 2nd, 2009 by admin

Unless you have been away from all forms of media, you are probably well aware of the tragic death of Michael Jackson.  Despite recent scandals and media troubles, Michael left a lasting impression on just about everyone.  From the music industry to the millions of fans worldwide, he will never be forgotten.

As expected, the news of Michael’s death came as a shock to recent American Idol finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert as well.  He was the king of pop and had an impact on every industry and niche within the music world.  That is precisely why American Idol featured a Jackson-themed performance night for contestants to pick and choose songs of his.  In honor of his recent death, the show re-aired those performances on FOX.

On that night, eventual winner Kris Allen performed “Remember the Time” by Michael Jackson while runner-up Lambert sang his heart out to “Black or White.”  They both gave memorable performances to try to honor the infamous Jackson.  Little did they know Michael would pass just months later.

As the two spoke about Michael Jackson, Allen recollected about how the first album he ever owned was Dangerous from 1991 from the king of pop.  He had a true impact on Allen’s life and what he has become today.  Allen went on to say the Jackson was “the most influential musical person that I had in my life.”  He said that everything Jackson did was right when it came to the musician side.

There are few artists who can impact you personally every album they create.  Allen said every album of Jackson’s made him feel good and that Michael was a true genius at what he did.  There is no denying that the king of pop truly was a mastermind when it came to music.

When remembering Michael Jackson, Adam Lambert first thought of the 1982 hit Thriller.  He believed Jackson had a voice like none other that set him apart from anyone that was remotely comparable.  Not only was the music astonishing, but Lambert felt the visual side was groundbreaking and edgy.

Lambert also touched on sexuality and race with Michael saying that he defied the two facets like no one else had ever done before.  “He wasn’t openly masculine or feminine.  He was kind of somewhere in the middle…,” said Lambert.

He continued to say that he believed Michael Jackson was like this in a lot of different ways.  He was stuck in the middle and his song Black or White vindicated this.

There is no question the loss of Michael Jackson has touched many people in some way or another.  The same held true for the finalists of last season’s American Idol with both having a number of kind and insightful things to say of the king of pop.
