American Idol Adam Lambert

Often times you will hear about celebrities donating money to charities or doing charity work by spending time with sick children or the elderly. What you rarely hear about is fans of a specific celebrity donating to a certain cause. This is precisely the type of impact Adam Lambert has had on his fans.

If it were not enough that the fans of American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert voted him that far, they continued to display their love and support for him by donating to public schools. Not only did that donate to a few schools, but they did so in a drastic measure.

Adam announced that during the months of August and September, fans of his helped him raise over $200,000 for public schools through the web site DonorsChoose.org. This had a tremendous effect on thousands of students within public schools.

By the end of the campaign there were 1,978 fans in all that donated to help raise $234,188. As you can imagine, this went a long way toward helping a whopping 92,155 students in public schools.

The money will go toward helping students in a wide array of areas. On DonorsChoose.org, teachers from all over America make requests based on their needs for classroom projects and supplies. Some of the requests include pencils, violins, microscope slides for biology, and much more.

Upon landing on the web site, visitors then had the ability to look through the different project requests and donate one dollar or more to each specific project. As soon as the funding goal was reached, DonorsChoose.org delivered all of the materials to the school. It is an amazing concept and a heartwarming gesture by the talented musician.

If this is any indication of the type of support Adam Lambert will be receiving, things are looking up for him with the release of his first album not far away.
